Wild blueberries have high concentrations of polyphenolic compounds, vitamins and minerals-phytochemicals thought to be the bioactive compounds associated with enhanced memory, protected hearts and reduced risk of cancer.[1] Polyphenolic antioxidants are considered premier disease fighters that protect the body against free radicals or unstable molecules that cause cell damage leading to chronic and degenerative diseases.[2] According to Dr. Oz "One of his favorite anti-aging foods are blueberries. You can tell blueberries are chockfull of antioxidants because of their dark color.
